Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have never been big on internet trends. I see the internet chiefly as a tool by which I can annoy people (meaning keep in touch) from increasingly long distances as I travel through the real world. But the other day I was engaging in one of my favorite boredom-fighting activities, randomly googling phrases to find funny pictures, and I thought to myself: why not make a game of it.
And thus, Operation #googlyfarts was born.
Here’s what I want you to do. Each day, you’ll come across a phrase or a word that you find somehow… Interesting. I know it happens, it happens to everyone. It might be the name of a town, a sentence, whatever. Type it into Google and do an image search. Pick any image that tickles your fancy and then post it, preferably on twitter, in the following format:
(Your name here): (Phrase searched for) imagelink #googlyfarts
Within a few weeks, we can hopefully come up with some sort of hilarious associative humor/knowledge cloud, and lead people to treat the internet as something less like a promotion machine or a “useful network of information” and more like a horribly lazy performance art playground.
That is all!
RJC
